10 Upcycling tools you need!

Upcycling or painting furniture is bigger than ever (thanks to a world wide pandemic)

Here are 10 tools you really need to either kick start a new career in the industry or level up your upcycling game.

Number one

We start with one of the most used tools- a brush!

A new brush has emerged.

The brush keeper- A synthetic bristle brush with a little "keeper" that is for water.

Once you have used the brush, you would normally wrap in plastic wrap which is not Eco at all, now we can stop all that!

This nifty little tool will transform your painting game.

There are two styles available, one is a little cup and the other is a sleeve.

The brushes are self cleaning while in the little cup keeper- Bonus!

We were lucky to be one of the first to try these in the UK many months ago and raved about them.

Number two

3 mm tape.

If you are a fan of the line/Art Deco trend then this one is for you.

Ever wondered how we get the thin lines, we don't cut normal masking tape down (unless we have to)

We use a 3mm model tape- the best I have ever found is from Hobbycraft- https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/assorted-solid-masking-tape-3mm-x-8m-10-pack/6403901000.html

It's a pack of 10 in all different colours and is really good quality especially for the price (£2.30)

It also comes in 6mm for £4.50

Number three

Roller and brush cleaner.

2 in 1 cleaner for brushes and roller sleeves.

The metal prongs can get deep into the bristles and remove all the paint that otherwise could be missed.

The circle part is for cleaning roller sleeves, drag it down the sleeve to empty the unused paint back into the pot, don't let paint go down the sink- that's your profit!

Rolling dog's painters folding tool.

A one stop tool that's handy for the workshop and when delivering a piece to a customer.

It is a 9 in 1 tool that has a paint tin opener, a screwdriver, a blade and so much more all on this little folding tool. The nail puller is particularly handy!

Number five

Ever wondered what the best way was to send some touch up paint with a piece that is freshly painted to a customer?

Wonder no more!

We came up with a way of not only giving them some paint but a brush as well!

Using these brilliant 'lipgloss" cases.

Just use a syringe to fill them up with some paint, label it, then the customer has the perfect touch up pen.

You can watch one of our reels about this here - https://www.instagram.com/reel/CcqVGoSjfno/

It can last upto 12 months in the little tube as it's air tight.

You can get the tubes here- https://amzn.to/3Jmkaj7

Number six

Magnetic brush holder

This handy little tool will stop you putting the brush down and then picking up little bits of dust or hair.

Clip it onto the paint jar or tin and then it holds the metal part of the brush.

(Most good brushes have a metal band)

Super handy in workshops and working on site.

The Bible- the furniture bible that is!

This book is just amazing, it's a must for anyone turning their hand to furniture restoring, Be it to restore it to its original condition or painting it.

It's a big book- worth it!

Number eight

Tape cutter.

This masking tape cutter makes getting those crisp lines even easier.

Makes masking up mirrors, doors or anywhere really quick easy and trouble free.

Tie the little cutter onto the roll and just pull up and it will cut off a piece for you.

You can lie the tape down and just run the roll to where you need it then press down and cut. It really is that simple.

You get three sizes in the pack from tadpole. Middle one fits over the standard masking tape roll.

This little sanding attachment for your drill is very handy.

Attach it to any drill and you have a sander.

They come in two sizes, it is handy to have both as it can get into smaller areas.

This one is 5" so can cover an area quickly!

The round sanding pads are easy to change as well.

For the price they really are a bargain and don't break the bank account
